Land Purchased for Mercy Hospital Project

At its meeting on February 6, the House of Delegates (HOD) approved the AUSA budget for the purchase of a parcel of land at Ogbu for the development of the Mercy Hospital Project.

This decision marked an important milestone for the community. After careful consideration, the previously proposed Nsukwu parcel was set aside due to ongoing litigation and disputes surrounding the property. The approved site at Ogbu provided a clearer and more secure path forward for the project.

We are pleased to report that the land has now been purchased, bringing the Mercy Hospital Project closer to actual development. In addition, groundbreaking is scheduled for January 2027, which will mark the formal beginning of physical work on the project site.

During the Atlanta Convention, the General Counsel also approved the acquisition of an additional 20 plots, further strengthening the long-term vision and expansion capacity of the Mercy Hospital Project.

This progress represents great news and a significant achievement for AUSA and the Abatete community. The project continues to move from vision to reality and is expected to enhance access to healthcare services while contributing to the long-term wellbeing and development of the community.
